CARSON CITY, NV - The Institute for a Progressive Nevada (IPN), a nonpartisan organization committed to evidence-based policies and community safety, proudly releases our white paper, "Gun Violence in Nevada: A Policy Brief," authored by Lisa Lynn Chapman, JD. This comprehensive report provides an in-depth analysis of gun violence as a critical public health crisis, examines legislative progress already made, and highlights essential policy recommendations. By advocating enhanced firearm licensing for gun buyers, stricter regulations on ghost guns, and protective measures around sensitive areas such as polling places, IPN hopes to bring attention to policies being presented that aim to significantly reduce firearm-related deaths and injuries across Nevada.
Amber Falgout, Communications Director for the Institute for a Progressive Nevada, issued the following statement:
“Our communities deserve effective, common-sense gun policies that prioritize public safety and save lives. Gun violence continues to profoundly impact our communities, claiming lives and devastating families in Nevada and nationwide. The evidence-based recommendations in this brief provide clear, actionable steps legislators can take right now to protect our neighborhoods, schools, and public spaces. Currently, Governor Lombardo has two gun violence prevention policies awaiting his signature, and we hope that he will choose to do right by the Nevadans who have been harmed by consistent gun violence. We urge Nevada's lawmakers, community leaders, and citizens to support these critical laws and align our state’s gun policies with our shared goal of creating safer communities for all Nevadans.”
