NEVADA - With Election Day one week away, Nevada advocates urge voters who plan to return their ballots by mail to do so by Tuesday, October 27th, to give the Postal Service time to deliver them. In the 2024 general election about 45% of Nevada voters voted by mail. Mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, November 3, and the Secretary of State’s office warned that a timely postmark alone isn't enough. Voters who miss the window can still return their ballot to a drop box or vote in person.

Emily Persaud-Zamora, Executive Director, Silver State Voices, issued the following statement:

“With one week until Election Day, we urge Nevada voters to make a plan to vote if they have not done so already. If voting by mail after October 27, make sure to drop it off at a designated drop box by Election Day. For voters in Clark and Washoe counties, all polling locations will have a drop box. Voters can also check out the interactive map from the NV SOS to see drop box sites and polling locations throughout the state of Nevada. No matter what voting method voters use, we want to remind Nevadans that voting is not only your power, it’s your constitutional right.”

Athar Haseebullah, Executive Director, ACLU of Nevada, issued the following statement:

“While voting by mail is safe and secure and makes voting accessible if you can’t easily get to a polling site during their hours of operation, with unprecedented threats to USPS, it’s best to get your ballot mailed back as early as possible if you plan on mailing it back. You can always drop your completed ballot off at a ballot drop box site or vote in person as well.”

Shelbie Swartz, Executive Director, Institute for a Progressive Nevada, issued the following statement:

“Voting is how Nevadans make their voices heard, and we want every single person to know how to make sure their ballot counts. If you’re voting by mail, don’t wait: sign it, seal it, and mail it today so it has time to arrive. A timely postmark matters, and the more time you give your ballot, the better. If you’ve missed the deadline, you are not out of options. You can drop your ballot at an official drop box or vote in person at an early voting site or on Election Day. Nevada voters have the power to shape our communities and our future, and our job is to make sure no one is left behind because they didn’t have the information they needed. Make a plan, make your voice heard, and vote.”

Kerry Durmick, Nevada State Director, All Voting Is Local, issued the following statement:

“One of the best ways to protect our democracy is to engage in it – and that means voting with whatever voting method suits you the best! With the last week of early voting underway, we want to remind Nevadans who are planning to vote by mail to mail their ballots by today, October 27th. If you are unable to mail it back by the 27th, please drop it off at a dropbox or vote in person either early or on Election Day. A thriving democracy takes all of us, and this election, Nevadans are making it clear: Hands off our vote!”

Lauren Babb, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, issued the following statement:

“Your vote can make a difference in your community on important issues like healthcare access. Voting is simple: fill out your ballot. Place your ballot in your return envelope-don't forget to sign it. Your vote is your voice. Be heard. Your ballot has arrived. Fill it out and return it today by mail or by a dropbox near you.”

Kristee Watson, Executive Director of Nevada Conservation League, issued the following statement:

“Every Nevadan who has endured another summer of record heat or opened a power bill that climbed again knows what is on the line in this election. The decisions that shape our public lands and the air we breathe are made by the people we elect, and your ballot is how you hold them accountable. Nevada Conservation League is proud to stand with this coalition so every voter has what they need to be counted. If you are voting by mail, send your ballot back today. If today slips by, a drop box or an early voting site is still waiting for you. Nevada’s future counts on the people who show up for it.”

Laura Martin, Executive Director of Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, issued the following statement:

“Vote by mail is a tried and tested voting method that opens the ballot box to Nevadans of differing abilities or with challenging work schedules. Voting by mail is safe and secure, your best bet is to drop your ballot in the mail by today. Our democracy is strongest when more voices are heard, Nevadans shouldn’t wait: mail or drop off your ballot now!”

André Wade, State Director of Silver State Equality Institute, issued the following statement:

"Vote by mail works. However, doing so by October 27th will help to ensure that it works and your ballot is counted without any potential delays from the United States Postal Service that are out of your control. Silver State Equality encourages all Nevadans who are eligible to vote to do so by any of the convenient methods set forth like casting your ballot at a polling station, dropping off your ballot at a designated and authorized drop box location, or by voting by mail. Let your voice be heard and counted!"
