As Nevadans celebrate Memorial Day, they will see billboards and hear radio ads holding Congressman Amodei accountable for his move to sell off public lands in Nevada

NEVADA—Today, the Institute for a Progressive Nevada unveiled new billboards and radio ads in Northern Nevada aimed at holding Congressman Amodei accountable for his attempted sell-off of public lands. Recently, Amodei put forth an amendment to sell off nearly half a million acres of public lands in Nevada, including 12,000 acres near Fernley. This major public lands sell-off came without any support for infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and roads.

Shelbie Swartz, Executive Director of Institute for a Progressive Nevada, issued the following statement:

“Congressman Amodei’s attempt to sell off nearly half a million acres of Nevada’s public lands — without a single plan for roads, schools, or hospitals — was a reckless move that puts profits before people. Nevadans deserve leaders who invest in our future, not sell it off piece by piece. Without plans to increase infrastructure needs, this reckless plan would have stressed existing resources in communities across Nevada. Making matters worse, Amodei pushed this forward without transparency or public input, and with proceeds diverted to the federal treasury instead of supporting Nevada, the proposal was a clear betrayal of Nevadans.”
